Kyle Busch continued his qualifying dominance at Lowe's Motor Speedway to earn the pole for the Coca-Cola 600, turning in a lap of 185.433 mph in his No. 18 Toyota to edge out last week's All-Star race winner Kasey Kahne.
CONCORD, N.C. (AP) - Kyle Busch has captured the pole for Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Busch turned in a lap of 185.433 miles per hour today to nose out Kasey Kahne (kayn) for the pole in NASCAR’s longest race of the season.
Kyle Busch races beyond his years. He's more superstitious than a lot of 23-year-olds, too.
Kyle Busch will lead the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series to the green flag in Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 at the Lowe's Motor Speedway. Kasey Kahne, winner of Saturday night's Sprint All-Star Race, will start alongside and will look to sweep the two events at the Concord, N.C. track.
Wearing the metaphorical black hat, they have swerved and smashed before Kyle Busch did. Darrell Waltrip, Dale Earnhardt Sr., Tony Stewart and older brother Kurt Busch all were regarded once as NASCAR's high-speed villains. All grew out of the bad-guy role and were accepted as champion racers.
