Is NASCAR racing safe?

Answered By Niles Hanssen, Editor

Nascar is referred to by many as a motor sport. However, many critics are not considering it as a sport because the competition is more focused on the control of the machine and not on the human body. Furthermore, despite of the safety measures that must be observed during any race, Nascar racing is still considered to be a dangerous sport because it is physically-demanding. A Nascar driver must endure temperature exceeding 150 degrees Fahrenheit inside the car for more than three hours. Pit stop crews are also hazardously exposed to fire, debris, and fast-moving cars.
